Universal Music France recording artist Jeanne Cherhal recently recorded her new album, “L’an 40” (Year 40) at United Recording. For her sixth album, the Parisian singer/songwriter and pianist worked alongside fellow countryman and renowned executive producer Philippe Rault.

“Jeanne chose United Recording’s Studio A, not only because it is one of the best studios in the country, but also because it included a coveted Steinway D concert piano,” said Rault. “She was excited to bring her album to life in this state-of-the-art space with an experienced and dedicated team.”

Cherhal also collaborated with legendary drummer Jim Keltner, guitarist/producer Sébastien Hoog, four-time Grammy award-winning engineer Ryan Freeland and United Recording staffers Victor Janacua and Monique Evelyn.

Hailing from Nantes near the Loire River, Cherhal studied philosophy before moving to Paris. She began her singing career in small nightclubs and concert venues accompanied by a piano or guitar. Following a six-song EP, she released her self-titled first album in 2002. Her second album, “Douze fois par an,” released in 2004, was a success and helped garner a loyal fan base. In 2005, she performed in the French version of “The Vagina Monologues,” and later starred in two short films, “La Consultation” and “La copie de Coralie,” which was nominated at the Cannes Film Festival.
